epaPRO Rebrands as Proficient

As part of ongoing changes driven by the Apprenticeship Assessment Reform, the system previously known as epaPRO has been rebranded as Proficient. You will continue to access the same platform using your existing login details, but you will notice updated branding, terminology, and system references aligned to the new national approach.

Why this change is happening?

The Department for Education’s reform programme is reshaping how apprenticeship assessment is structured, delivered, and monitored. A key component of this reform is the phasing out of the term “End-Point Assessment (EPA)” and its replacement with the broader and clearer term “Apprenticeship Assessment.”

This shift is accompanied by a wider set of reform measures including:

  • Updates to assessment plans and requirements
  • Assessments can occur throughout the apprenticeship, not just at the end.
  • Some assessment components may now be delivered and marked by training providers under regulated conditions.

To align with these reforms, the platform has modernised its identity and system language. The move to Proficient reflects both updated sector terminology and the platform’s enhanced functionality in support of future Apprenticeship Assessment requirements.

What this means for you?

✔ No action required — your access and logins remain unchanged

✔ All existing assessment data is retained and unaffected

✔ Visual branding and terminology within the platform will now reference Apprenticeship Assessment rather than EPA

✔ More updates will follow as national reform changes are rolled out

Your service will not be interrupted, and all workflows will operate as normal.
