Building Workforce Readiness Through Collaborative Vocational Education

India’s evolving vocational education landscape, guided by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, presents a transformative opportunity to empower learners with practical skills and industry-relevant training. At VTCT Skills, we believe that collaboration is key to unlocking this potential. By working closely with Indian education providers, industry partners, and government bodies, we aim to support the integration of vocational training from an early age, ensuring learners gain hands-on experience and clear pathways to employment.

Our approach aligns with India’s goals of expanding access, promoting the dignity of labour, and fostering lifelong learning. Together, we are building a future where vocational education is not just an alternative, but a respected and aspirational route to success.

About VTCT Skills

VTCT Skills (Vocational Training Charitable Trust) is a UK-registered charity and one of the oldest vocational awarding organisations, with over 60 years of heritage. We are recognised and regulated by Ofqual (England), Qualifications Wales (Wales), CCEA (Northern Ireland), and SQA (Scotland), ensuring our qualifications meet the highest standards of quality assurance and academic rigour.

Our qualifications span sectors including Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy & Wellness, Early Years, Hospitality, Health and Social Care, Logistics, Sports, and English Language. Delivered in over 50 countries, VTCT Skills qualifications are globally respected by universities, employers, and governments.

VTCT Skills in India

VTCT Skills is actively seeking to contribute to India’s skilling ecosystem through strategic partnerships and programme development aligned with NEP 2020 and Skill India initiatives.

We are engaging with Government bodies to collaborate on projects for English language and Adult Care programmes, and others.  Designed to meet the growing demand for trained professionals in India, these programmes are mapped to the British Standards and prepare learners for employment both domestically and internationally.

Partnerships and Pilots

VTCT Skills is engaging with state skills missions, universities, sector skills councils, and private training providers. Early discussions are underway in various states to embed qualifications into vocational pathways. Pilot projects are being developed in polytechnics and higher education institutions to integrate English and care-skills training at scale.

We are working to build technical and vocational education capacity aligned to India’s national strategy.

Some of these interventions can be consultative to begin our engagement and gradually bring in the quality partnership leading to endorsement and/ or qualification.
