Saras is our new exams platform that brings key exams activity into one intuitive system. It has been designed with centres in mind, focusing on ease of use, reduced administration and improved visibility.
Centres will not have access to Saras until the planned go-live point. Ahead of this, we’ll provide clear guidance, training and communications so you can prepare with confidence.
We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions below but if you can’t find the answer you need and require support please contact sarasenquiries@vtctskills.org.uk
Yes, both are correct. From a customer perspective, there will be very little functional change; however, all activity will now be managed through Saras.
The system is compatible with JAWS and NVDA screen readers, which provide an audio option for reading the questions. However, writing or dictation software is not currently supported.
Yes, every device used for examinations will need the LockDown Browser installed. Our suppliers are currently working on a solution to enable a ‘silent installation’, which will allow larger centres to ask their IT teams to deploy the software across multiple computers simultaneously, rather than installing it individually on each device.
Saras will support a login sheet, similar to the XAMS system. The key difference is that the password will not appear on the login sheet and will only be known to the learner, providing an additional layer of security.
It is possible to amend a schedule, either to add or remove learners or adjust times as required
We have created a dedicated support inbox (sarasenquiries@vtctskills.org.uk) for any enquiries relating to the soft launch.
For urgent matters, please contact our Customer Support team by phone, who will be able to provide immediate assistance, as they currently would if a live issue occurred during an exam using XAMs.
Yes, by using the batch feature within Saras, you can schedule a cohort of learners against a unit.
